  1. Access to Information: Any person may request access to records held by 88MEC in writing. Requests for access to records must be obtained from our Information Officer. Requests should be submitted to our Information Officer at the contact information listed in Section 2.

  2. Fees: 88MEC reserves the right to charge fees for the processing of requests for information and actual courier/postage fees.

  1. Response Time 88MEC will respond to your request within 30 days of receipt of the request. In exceptional circumstances, if the request requires a search for information held in archives, or if a large volume of information is requested, the time for the response may be extended for a further period not exceeding 30 days.

  2. Grounds for Refusal 88MEC may refuse a request for access to information in certain circumstances as set out in the PAIA, including but not limited to:

  • If the record contains third party information which cannot be disclosed without the third party’s consent.
  • If the record contains information that is protected by legal privilege.
  • If the record contains trade secrets or financial, commercial, scientific or technical information which, if disclosed, could reasonably be expected to cause harm to the commercial or financial interests of 88MEC.
  1. Appeals If a request for information is refused, the requester may appeal the decision in writing to the Information Officer. The appeal must be lodged within 30 days of the refusal. The Information Officer will consider the appeal and make a decision within 30 days. If the requester is still dissatisfied with the outcome, he or she may apply to the court for relief.
